 Rules

  1. Interest in beam time can be signed up for no more than two months in advance by the automated form. This can only be done by independent group leaders. They may delegate this responsibility to one postdoc (List of group leaders). Be honest about your requirements, changing your mind too often will reduce your priority. You can only remove a booking by emailing the administrator (Dr Nicholas Keep). I would also like an email outline of your plans (minimum and ideal length of time). This is particularly important if you need a long slot (MAD etc). You may assume you are going once you have put your name down, if you did not go on/have not booked for the previous trip to that station. I am assuming that up to 4 groups can share the time usefully, more if some people are just testing new crystals. If demand for a particular day starts to be excessive then I will contact people as soon as possible to discuss the situation.

  2.

  3. Between 2 and 3 weeks beforehand the names of those groups going will be placed in the allocated column (if necessary with a rough division of time). From that point the named people are responsible for
    1. Liaison with the other people going
    2. Sending in the safety forms and user registrations ( http://srdweb2.dl.ac.uk/srs/ulo/forms_reports.html )
    3. Organising travel and accommodation (http://Srdweb2.dl.ac.uk/srs/ulo/travel_accom.html)
    4. Ensuring that the time is used properly (if necessary asking round to persuade other people to go if they decide not to at the last minute)
  4. If there are no bids for the time, group leaders will be emailed informing them and asking for immediate response.

  5.

  6. Unused time will be cancelled not less than a week in advance

  7.

  8. You should keep a record of beam time use as we will have to account for it in applying for new allocations

  9.

  10. Failure to stick to the above rules will reduce your priority. Not using your time after it has been allocated will be treated particularly harshly.
