WindowsXP poor driver support for onboard sis735/AC97 sound?

Update:The sound drivers off the retail CD work fine. Might still use the SB live so I get my surround sound back.

Updates -
XP does not recognise the Diamond Supra SST 56i PCI modem (it sets it to be generic, then doesnt work). However, updated drivers are available at diamondmm.com, and work without a hitch.
As mentioned in the newsgroups, the CMOS bios settings are liable to go awol occasionally, and I've have this happen once already. Possibly fixed by a bios update?
Onboard sound goes awol in XP after coming back from sleep mode. Again, the newsgroups say this is fixed by some upgrade (bios I think).
